Alan Bergsma (1944-2001)

Obituary published in Autumn 2001 issue of Wheaton magazine:

Alan Bergsma ’66 died May 3, 2001, in San Diego. He began his private practice in psychiatry in 1980 after serving an internship and residency at the University of California at San Diego. From 1989 until his retirement in 2000, he was chief of staff for psychiatry at Scripps Mercy Hospital, specializing in treating severely depressed patients. He was a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the National Board of Medical Examiners, and a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. His passions were traveling and reading mystery novels. Survivors include his wife, Stephanie; son, David; mother, Mildred; and two sisters.
