Theodore Atkinson (1944-2004)

Obituary published in The News Journal on May 18, 2004:

The Rev. Theodore Stilwell Atkinson, age 59 of Kirkwood, PA, died Saturday, May 15, 2004 at his home. He was the husband of Kay Ziegler Atkinson with whom he shared 28 years of marriage. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Clarence E. and Bessie Burnham Atkinson. Ted was the pastor of the Oxford Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), Oxford, PA for 18 years. He received his bachelor’s degree from Wheaton College, Wheaton, IL, his B.D. and Th.M. degrees from Princeton Theological Seminary, Princeton, NJ. He served churches in OH, NY and PA. Before his illness, he was a member of the Southern Chester County YMCA Board of Directors and the Oxford Mainstreet, Inc. Board of Directors. He was also a member of the Pastor/Theologian program of the Center of Theological Inquiry, Princeton, NJ. He was active in the Oxford Ministerium and coordinated the annual CROP Walk for world hunger for many years. He is survived by his wife; 3 sons, Andrew T. Atkinson, teacher at Avon Grove High School, Lieutenant Philip Z. Atkinson (U.S.A.F.), Pensacola, FL and Lieutenant Mark B. Atkinson (U.S. Army); a brother, Major General Clarence Edward Atkinson, Jr. of West Grove, PA; and a sister, Mary Glass of New Castle, DE. His sister, Addie Levirt Wilson preceded him in death.
